Sudan’s Vice President Hassabo Abdel-Rahman will travel next Friday to the Republic of Congo to participate in an African Union summit on the Libyan crisis.

Sudanese Vice President Ibrahim Al-Senoussi confirmed that his country would not be part of the African-Israeli conference which is scheduled to be held in late October in Togo.

The secretary-general of one of Sudan’s leading opposition parties has launched an initiative aimed at ending the decade-long conflict in the western Darfur region including the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile areas, the official news agency SUNA has reported.

Elizabeth Ayumpou Balang is a teacher at a nursery and primary school in Rumbek, a town in central South Sudan. It is her dream job, but it did not come easily. Like many girls in South Sudan, Ms. Balang was married, and became a mother, while just a teenager.
