South Sudan’s government and rebel groups signed a ceasefire on Thursday in the latest attempt to end a four-year civil war and allow humanitarian groups access to civilians caught in the fighting

Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir says Sudan and Rwanda face the same challenges and entertain the same aspirations, with the same political will and resources to could help them achieve development, attract investment and bring prosperity to their people.

The first ‘Protection of Civilians’ site – a place of refuge and safety set up next to a United Nations base in South Sudan – has been successfully closed after internally displaced families expressed the desire and confidence to return to their homes, the UN mission in the country said Wednesday.

The United Nations said six aid workers who went missing after clashes broke out in South Sudan days ago, have safely returned.
